After a large fire broke out at the car dump in Vilnius on Wednesday, the company that owns the territory "Lithuanian railways" (LTG) claims that it is calculating the damage and is considering terminating the contract with the lessee company "Rubis".

"If it turns out that on March 27 in the territory of LTG in Vilnius fire was due to the lessee's fault, the LTG group will evaluate the possibilities of terminating the contract with the lessee company "Ruvis". The damage suffered by LTG is also calculated," LTG said in a statement on Thursday.

General Director of LTG Group, Egidijus Lazauskas, said that the company will re-evaluate all tenants in the territories of LTG - all contracts, activities of tenants will be reviewed and their potential risks will be decided.

"We are cooperating with the responsible authorities in order to find out the circumstances of the fire. We feel a responsibility to ensure that in the future such events do not recur in the territory of LTG, therefore we will re-evaluate the activities of the tenants located in the territories of LTG", said E. Lazauskas in the report.

According to LTG, in addition to firefighters, employees of LTG group companies also worked at the scene of the fire. 

"Nine railway cisterns were used to extinguish the fire, which were used to pump and store the water in the area, so that the water used for extinguishing the fire does not enter the environment. The equipment of the LTG Infra group company was used for metal scrap transshipment," the report states.

The lease agreement with "Ruvis" was concluded in 2014, it rented a commercial plot and premises in the territory of LTG, where it carried out metal handling activities.

About 1,3 thousand sq. About 60 officers extinguished the fire that broke out in the area of ​​22.22 on Wednesday evening. was localized. No one was injured in the incident.
