A resident of Šilalė district will probably remember the spectacle he saw, which caused him to be properly frightened, for the rest of his life. After a whistling sound, Edwin saw a white object falling in the sky.

An extraordinary story was shared in the "Weather and Climate in Lithuania" Facebook group, which Edvinas witnessed.

"One follower of this account, Edvinas Venckus, shared some fresh shots from this morning and a seemingly very strange story that happened to his friend (he didn't want to write it himself).

The message sounded like this: "hello, today the strangest thing happened in my life, I was washing the tractor with a hose, I heard a strange whistling sound, as if a bomb was falling, I looked at the sky, I saw a falling white object, I jumped behind the tractor in fear, after a while I recognized it this white object," the group on the social network wrote.

The block of ice is said to have fallen in Šilalė district, near the village of Visdiaugi on April 24, around 11:35 am.

Well, what about you, the first logically thought-out version that popped into your head is probably correct. The most likely culprit is the plane that landed in Kaunas (from Edinburgh, UK), which, after checking the flight data, was over the indicated area at the specified time (Lithuanian time - UTC+3). It is almost certain that a piece of ice broke off the plane and fell down.

Such a phenomenon is dangerous and is called blue ice in English. It forms when frozen water (or other waste) flows out of the aircraft's plumbing system. Although such incidents are rare and unheard of in Lithuania, they can cause danger to people and damage to property on the ground. In other countries of the world, there have been cases where roofs of houses, cars, etc. have been damaged by a similar piece of ice. In theory, such a piece of ice could seriously injure or even kill even a person.

Fact: between 1979 and 2003 cases of "blue ice". JAV only 27 cases were recorded. Such a thing has never been heard of in Lithuania", said the representatives of the group.
