Lithuania would like to Poland to create a regional logistics center for missile launchers HIMARS ammunition, the president says Gitanas Nauseda.
He spoke this way on Friday after a meeting with Polish leader Andrzej Duda (Andrzej Duda), with whom he watched the Brave Griffin 24/II military exercise.
"We specifically talked about HIMARS systems," G. Nausėda told reporters. Both Lithuania and Poland intend to purchase these systems. Already purchased, but intends to purchase more in the future, especially considering that Poland also has plans to produce ammunition. We would like to cooperate - my proposal was exactly in that direction, creating a regional logistics center."
According to G. Nausėda, Lithuania would also like to participate in joint procurement together.
Lithuania signed 2021 million at the end of 495. dollar contract with JAV for the acquisition of eight HIMARS systems.
The army plans to integrate the systems in coordination with allies, especially with neighboring countries - Estonia, Latvija, and Poland.
The first deliveries of HIMARS are scheduled for 2025.
