UAB "Vilnius lighting" informs about the started works on the Facebook account of the social network in the town hall square. After completing the planned replacement of the lamps, not only would electricity be saved, but the square should also become brighter during the dark hours of the day.
"Intensive works are underway near the Vilnius Town Hall Square. "Vilnius lighting" employees plan to replace 68 lamps at this location", informs UAB "Vilniaus lighting".
The lighting of the square has not been changed for almost 16 yearsų
The last time the lighting of the Town Hall Square was renewed more than a decade ago. The reconstruction of the square, which began in 2005, lasted two years and was reopened to the public in 2007. At that time, the pavement of the square, lights, trees and cars were renovated parking lots. There is also an octagonal fountain in the middle of the square. This one suffered more than once from various hooligans, who used chemicals to turn the fountain into a kind of bath of bubbles and foam. During the reconstruction, new lighting was installed - a total of 55 lighting poles were built.
Before it Town Hall Square was reconstructed in 1961-1962 according to the project of Enrik Tamosevičius.
