UAB "Vilnius lightingtogether with the municipality presents the lighting standard of the city of Vilnius, which is already applied today when designing and installing lighting in the capital's spaces.

The requirements applied to the installation of lighting on pedestrian and bicycle paths, roadways, bridges, viaducts, tunnels, squares, squares, green areas, lighting of buildings - all this is contained in the new "Vilnius City Lighting Standard" document.

"We become partners with institutions, organizations and companies related to city lighting. We strive for quality lighting, environmental improvement, a more attractive image of the city and structured work, which we can only do if there are clear rules. Taking into account the architectural changes of the city, we will constantly improve the "Vilnius City Lighting Standard", said Andrius Deimantas, head of Vilnius Lighting UAB.

The standard includes different principles, such as - lighting primarily for pedestrians, balanced lighting of urban architectural elements, illuminated storefronts and first floors of buildings, intensity of illumination of facades in the general context of the city, use of warm spectrum, lighting without light pollution, balanced advertising lighting, occasional lighting in the city and lighting , creating the city's identity.

The lighting standard is an important aspect of urban planning, which has a significant impact on safety, functionality and aesthetic appearance. In Vilnius, Gerosios Vilties, V. Mykolaitis-Putin and Taugotiškiu streets already meet the new standard.

"During the preparation of the document, much attention was paid to analyzing the lighting standards of European and other cities around the world, so the first presentation took place in March at the MIPIM event for real estate developers in Cannes, where we received a lot of attention from neighboring countries," said A. Deimantas.

One of the creators of the document, lighting architect Šarūnas Noskaitis, said that the "Vilnius City Lighting Standard" is useful, as it sets out clear and understandable principles that should be followed in order for the lighting in Vilnius to be appropriate: "Ideas are clearly presented on how to light Vilnius, to avoid irregular, disorderly lighting of the city of Vilnius".

Vilnius city municipalities chief engineer Anton Nikitin emphasized that the street standard was created in order to have more comfortable, cozier and safer streets.

“One of the most important aspects of western streets is lighting, the design guidelines for which are now clearly detailed in a newly developed annex. We invite you to apply them and thus ensure that the streets are well lit", said A. Nikitin.
