In July, Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) announced an architectural competition for the new headquarters of LRT, located at S. Konarskio st. 49. November 20 was the last day for submission of works, after which it became clear that 9 participants who submitted works on time are taking part in the competition. The winner of the competition is expected to be announced in December.
The commission will consider the submitted works and vote on the best architectural idea. It is expected that the new LRT building will be functionally adapted to different media, focused on the current needs of employees, but also including changes in media in the future.
"The project of the new LRT building must bring together the administration, journalists, content creators and other specialists related to content production for united work and cooperation, and enable close cooperation of news services. Therefore, the competition evaluation committee faces a difficult task - to choose from the submitted projects the one that will combine the most important aspects of the new LRT building and will reflect the organization's mission and form the right image", says LRT asset management manager Linas Kaminskas.
The LRT competition is organized together with partners Lithuanian Architects' Union. The projects submitted during the competition will be evaluated by the evaluation committee, which consists of: chief city architect Laura Kairienė, architects Gražina Janulytė-Bernotienė, Tomas Grunskis and Marija Nemunienė, LRT council member Laura Matjošaitytė and LRT general director and head of the LRT Administration and Activity Development Department.
