LRT announces the prize winners of the architectural competition - three architectural ideas chosen by a specially formed commission. After checking the qualifications of the participants and completing other necessary public procurement procedures, it is announced that the first place went to the project "6 Yards", UAB "Architektūros linija" of Lithuania and Finland.
The second place went to the project "8900MHz", MB "Syrusas" (working under the name "Implmnt architects"), and the third place - to the project "Šviesa", UAB "Aketuri architektai".
Prizes will be awarded to the participants who took prize places. A total of 35 thousand will be awarded to the winners of the project competition. EUR - 15 thousand euros will be awarded to the first place winner, 10 thousand Euro bonuses will be awarded to the second and third place winners.
"The commission spent a lot of time evaluating each architectural idea and its suitability to become a project for the new LRT building. Each work was evaluated according to four criteria: integrity with the existing environment, quality of urban solutions; general architectural concept and expression of architecture, its quality; the functionality of the buildings being designed and reconstructed; the potential of ecological and environmental solutions. Negotiations for the design phase will now be organized with the tender winners. After it ends, it will become clear which architectural idea will be realized", LRT general director Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė said in the announcement.
LRT architectural idea competition for the new LRT headquarters, located on S. Konarskio st. 49, published in June. A total of 9 participants took part in the competition and submitted their works on time.
The LRT competition is organized together with partners Lithuanian Architects' Union. The projects submitted during the architectural idea competition were evaluated by a commission consisting of: Mr. city architect Laura Kairienė, architects Gražina Janulytė-Bernotienė, Tomas Grunskis and Marija Nemunienė, LRT council member Laura Matjošaitytė and LRT general director M. Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė and head of the LRT Administration and Activity Development Department Tomas Rytel.
LRT previously planned to build a new headquarters by 2025, it was supposed to cost about 47,5 million. euros.
