It is becoming clear what the new LRT headquarters will look like

"6 kiemai" was recognized as the best project of the architectural competition for the new headquarters of Lithuanian Radio and Television (LRT), held for the second time, the national broadcaster announced on Thursday.

In the preliminary ranking, the second place was taken by the idea "8900MHz", the third - "Light", the fourth - LRT media park, the fifth - "L1R2T3", the sixth - "Fabula", the seventh - "Pixel", the eighth - "EVX50M", the ninth - "Švyturys" ".

The authors of the ideas submitted to the competition announced last July and the preliminary prices of the works are not published. The winners and the preliminary value of their projects will be announced after the final winner is announced.

According to LRT general director Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė, in preparation for the tender, the borders of the plot were adjusted and the need for premises was reviewed.

"At this stage, we only evaluate the architectural idea, not specific technical solutions. When all public procurement procedures are finished, then negotiations will be organized for the design stage", said M. Garbatiauskaitė-Budrienė in the report.

LRT organizes the competition together with the Lithuanian Architects' Union. 15 thousand will be allocated to the authors of the best rated proposal. EUR bonus, 2 for participants who took 3-10 places. euros, a contract will be signed with one of them.

The first tender was canceled by the national broadcaster in May 2022 after doubts arose as to whether the proposals met the requirements.

The architectural office "Aketuri architektai", which won the competition at the time, appealed the decision to the court, but the court ruled that the LRT's decision to reject all the participants' proposals and terminate the competition was legal.

LRT previously planned to build a new headquarters by 2025, it was supposed to cost about 47,5 million. euros.
