On Monday, the real potato wars broke out in two supermarkets. Two chains competed to see whose Lithuanian potatoes would be cheaper on this day: "Maximos" or "Lidlo".

"Maxima” offered potatoes to buyers for 0,03 ct per kilogram. Potatoes can be purchased from March 19. until March 25 True, in order to receive a discount, customers needed to scan a QR code on a mobile app at the checkout. Otherwise, you would have to pay 0,23 cents per kilogram for potatoes.

"Two weeks before Easter, customers will be able to purchase the most popular Easter goods selected every week at the lowest prices in the Maxima shopping network. From March 19 to 30, "Maxima" will monitor and compare the regular and promotional prices of the selected most popular Easter goods in other stores of the widest assortment of large shopping chains, and if they find cheaper elsewhere, they will reduce their prices even more the next working day in all "Maximas" - previously the retail chain reported.

The next discount publication will be published on Tuesday (March 26).

It seems that such a move did not go down well with the competitors. Another retail chain, “Lidl”, published a discount publication at the weekend, in which buyers were offered to buy Lithuanian potatoes for 0,04 ct per kilogram on Monday. Buyers had to activate the coupon in the app and scan the virtual card at the checkout. Only in this case, a discount was applied to them. True, one buyer owns no more than 3 kg of potatoes.

After checking the Lidl app after 19pm, a new coupon appeared. After activating it, potatoes can be bought for 0,01 ct per kilogram. So, almost for nothing.

In "Maxima" you can buy potatoes at such a low price until Monday evening. "Lidl also sells potatoes for one cent until the evening of March 25.

What store wars are waiting for shoppers in the week before Easter? Stores promise new discounts to their customers every day. In this case, shopping for the holidays will be not only easier for Vilnius residents, but also cheaper.
