On Liars' Day, April 1, MadeinVilnius.lt editorial team joked that a tram line will be installed in Vilnius. After this publication, a huge discussion started on the portal and in the social network. Some Internet users thought that the tram was necessary, others - that it was not so much, because it would be a waste of money.
Mayor of Vilnius many times Valdas Benkunskas mentioned that currently Vilnius does not need a tram and it could be a matter of the future.
"First of all, because we live in a really small city of 400 square kilometers and we have less than 600 people. population. These are the arithmetical things that prevent us from having a tram or a subway today public transport options. Our passenger flow does not allow us to have those vehicles, because the cost of one pass should be covered by the same taxpayers, from budget money," Valdas Benkunskas said a year ago.
We want to ask you again, do you really need a tram in Vilnius?
