POLL: Does Vilnius really need a tram?

  1. Power says:

Who is missing corks? There is no money when the upper house explodes - there is by tram. Clown city and country

  2. ..... says:

There is no need for the subway because money will be stolen, just like with stadiums.

  3. That's not where you're looking says:

You must have noticed that there are almost no traffic jams in the summer. One of the big reasons for traffic jams is transporting children to kindergartens, kindergartens, etc. The tram does not solve this in any way. The problem is the lack of educational institutions.

  4. Fire says:

21st century EU members really do not deserve to have in their capital city only trolleybuses brought in during the time of the Soviet union and overhanging windows (such as Kalvariju street or Naujameisti...). Both tram and metro have a big plus. First of all, it makes the city more modern and attractive. The subway provides shelters - which the city does not have and which are not even worth building separately without the subway. Plus, the metro can be built by private investors if the state does not want or does not have the money for it. In the case of a tram, it is possible to make a track rising above the streets in places like in Japan (in this way, bypassing busy intersections or traffic jams without any traffic lights, which would be a big plus for travelers). There are no cities in Europe that are much smaller or similar in size to Vilnius with a subway and problems (Helsinki, Lillie, etc.). With the advent of modern transport, there will certainly be a lot of people choosing fast, modern transportation to work instead of standing in a traffic jam with their car. When the slowly moving trulik overhangs at the moment, it really doesn't make you want to climb it..

  5. Fair says:

During the war, the subway is useful, we don't have a place to hide, except in government buildings. Isn't this the reason why things are not moving because of the hideouts for the residents? After all, the representatives of the authorities knew that there is a place for them and their family members in the hiding place 😉

  6. Amber says:

You have to stop at every traffic light, there are traffic jams. Then the savior-Pylipas comes out from the hemp and shows a bright tomorrow with metro, trams, gondolas. First of all, the city needs viaducts Iron Wolf-Ukmergė, Narbut-Konstitucijos, Iron Wolf-Tūkstantmečius, Gariūnai. Is it normal that from Vilnius through Gariūnis to Kaunas, there is only one traffic lane, as well as to the Trakai side via Vokė?

    • BooM says:

This is why a viaduct is needed in some places, but it does not solve the problem of public transport. When moving slowly, trolleybuses and buses sometimes become substitutes for traffic jams. There is little desire to drive them. If the metro raises the city to the world level, the hideouts will appear at the same time... the tram, if it goes over or under problematic intersections, is also a super refreshment for the city. But we don't need Benkunsko at the wheel anymore..

  7. This is just my opinion says:

I think trolleybuses should be abandoned in Vilnius. They need non-hilly, smooth roads, Vilnius is hilly, and the quality of the roads is currently in poor condition, regardless of these two, Trolleybuses cause traffic jams. I would replace trolleybuses with buses. And Metro, that it is needed, is without exception.

    • Parts says:

In fact, the advantage of trolleybuses is their high torque, which allows them to enter the mountains. There are also trolleybuses in San Francisco, where the hills are much steeper than in Vilnius

  8. so how… says:

tram is not equal to tram, depending on which tram we are talking about. if you're going around town, you really don't need it. if someone brings you to the city from the outskirts - why not?

  9. Vytautas says:

We will not calm down without a tram!

    • Ben says:

Tram plan at a minimum (and it should be over the intersection or passing under it - without forced waiting with all the traffic). And according to the current and future geopolitical situation, a subway is needed. Hide and seek problems are solved and the city becomes world-class modern.

  10. A mayor with a circus, without visions says:

We really need. Vald's arguments are false. The flow will definitely be enough.
