While the planned work on the railway electrification project continues, the passenger transport company "LTG Linkduring the festive Easter period, the capacity is increased - for the convenience of passengers, trains will run normally on all routes in Lithuania and additionally on the routes Vilnius-Klaipeda and Radviliškis–Šiauliai–Klaipėda train traffic will be completely renewed, and increased trains will run.
On the Radviliškis-Klaipėda section, the contract work of the last (3rd) phase of the electrification of the Vilnius-Klaipėda railway artery, the most important of the country, continues. During it, a 199 km railway section will be electrified. Due to the electrification works, by regularly updating the train schedules, the company aims to ensure that during the electrification project, the largest possible number of train journeys is organized and as many people as possible can travel around the country sustainably by trains.
"While continuing the work on the electrification project of strategic importance, we aim to make train traffic as convenient as possible for train passengers on the routes affected by electrification. During the Easter period, all regular train services will run on the electrified section of the railway. And during this period, it will be possible to travel on routes Vilnius–Šiauliai–Klaipėda according to the normal schedule and as often as possible. We always recommend that you book your train tickets in advance - especially on holidays, when many of us can't wait to go to our relatives", says LTG Link manager Kristina Meidė.
After Easter, trains on the route Vilnius-Šiauliai-Klaipėda will run again for a while when the electrification works will not take place: in the early mornings and evenings, and on Sundays - as usual. If possible, there will also be shortened journeys on certain sections from Monday to Saturday - in the coming weeks, it is expected that trains with all intermediate stops in towns will run between Vilnius and Šiauliai. From March 28 additional 2 flights will run on Mondays on the Vilnius-Šiauliai section.
At present, most of the work on the electrification project of the railway section Vilnius-Klaipėda has already been completed. It is planned to complete all construction works on the electrification of the section in 2025. II quarter After the completion of the project, the length of the electrified section will reach approximately 366 km. This project will allow the share of electrified railways, in the whole infrastructure, from the current 8%. increase even up to 27 percent.
