LTG group passenger transport company "LTG Link" has signed a partnership agreement with Distribution Technologies GmbH, a company that connects carriers around the world, which will expand the opportunity to purchase train tickets for everyone using the travel planning platform Google Maps. The signed cooperation agreement will provide access to more than 150 transport operators and sales platforms around the world for those who want to buy train tickets in Lithuania in the future.  

Currently, the technological solution of Distribution Technologies GmbH is already used by more than 1 carriers, offering public transport trips to millions of passengers every day. It is planned that soon Lithuanian train tickets will be available not only through Google Maps. Other popular worldwide ticketing systems are already being prepared for the sale of Lithuanian train tickets: Omio, The Trainline, Kiwi, Booking.com, Trip.com, Kayak, etc. 

"This cooperation is extremely valuable for us, as we can offer travelers from all over the world to immediately purchase train tickets on convenient platforms, when they are still planning their trips. It is also in line with our Group's long-term strategic goal of paying even more attention to service quality. Popular platforms will be another attractive tool for us for train drivers. We will also further encourage foreign guests to choose a convenient and sustainable way to reach Lithuania and travel in our country," says LTG Group CEO Egidijus Lazauskas.  

Travel planning and ticketing system platforms will ensure safe and convenient payment methods adapted to customers from different countries. Popular platforms will offer one-time standard tickets with the option to choose a ticket class. Travelers of one of the most popular platforms in the world, Google Maps, can now not only plan joint trips, but also buy tickets in the same system.   

"We are happy to cooperate with the passenger transport company LTG Link and present to the world the Lithuanian railways, which are creating a new travel culture not only in Lithuania, but also in the international market," says Romain Ventanas, head of railway partnership at Distribution Technologies GmbH.  

According to "LTG Link" data, in 2023 about 10 percent tickets were purchased by foreigners. Residents of Great Britain, Germany, Poland and Sweden mostly chose to travel around Lithuania.  

"Foreigners' train travel really has the potential to grow. About 20-25 percent of travelers from our most important inbound tourism markets routinely choose trains when traveling abroad. It is usually the third choice after the plane (often determined by geographical circumstances) and the car. So, we can hope that tourists In Lithuania, they will also be happy to choose their usual mode of travel, if it is easier to use it", says "Travel in Lithuaniamanager Olga Goncharova.
