On March 12 Vilnius district Minister of Education, Science and Sports Gintautas Jakštas will open a new modular kindergarten building in the town of Mickūnai (Jaunimo str. 16). 

The new building was built next to the Mickūnai children's nursery-kindergarten, which is already in operation, but can no longer accommodate all the children who want it. It is now attended by 87 children, and several dozen are waiting in line. The first newcomers to the kindergarten will gather already this month, two new groups will be opened. 

The Mickūnai children's nursery-kindergarten was established in 1997 by the administration of the head of Vilnius county, since 2010. the rights and duties of the owner of the institution were taken over by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports. Mickūnai Kindergarten has also "raised" its staff during its almost three decades of operation - today two former pupils of this institution work in the kindergarten.

The Mickūnai Kindergarten is open to innovation - the solar panels installed on the roof of the kindergarten make it possible to produce 70% of the energy. energy for heating the kindergarten. Innovative, modern educational tools are installed in the kindergarten, furniture that meets the needs of children is purchased, new outdoor play equipment is installed, and bituminous surfaces for outdoor playgrounds are installed.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, responding to the growing need for educational institutions in the Lithuanian language of instruction in Vilnius district, constantly establish new groups in already functioning educational institutions or build new buildings. Last year, modular kindergartens were opened in Riešė and Rudamina. In just over one year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports established 250 new preschool education places in the state language in the Vilnius region.
