In February of this year, a report was received on the "Tvarkau Lietuva" interactive map about unsorted waste in the village of Kariotiškii, Trakai district. 7 used truck tires and 2 household waste were removed from the contaminated area.
In February of this year, specialists of the Department of Environmental Protection went to the village of Kariotiškii and inspected the area marked on the interactive map of "Tvarkau Lietuva" after receiving a report about possible illegally dumped waste.
During the inspection, it was found that waste was dumped on two plots of land. One plot of land belongs to a natural person, the other plot belongs to the state (state plot of land). After a detailed investigation, it was not possible to identify the persons who dumped the waste on both plots of land during the inspection.
The owner of the plot of land was obliged to clean up the stray waste on his plot of land and to inform the Department of Environmental Protection about the waste treatment. Since the waste was also dumped on state land, the environmentalists in a separate letter obliged the municipality of Trakai district to clean up the stray waste and also to inform the department about it.
In March, the Lentvaris municipality organized waste removal, collected and removed stray waste. The owner of a private plot also removed used car tires and household waste from his plot of land.
Environmentalists remind that plot owners must also take care of their property so that the ecological condition of the environment does not deteriorate and plots do not become landfills.
