Residents experiencing difficulties apply for benefits to municipalities. They can be not only periodic, which residents receive every month. In the event of an accident, reaching a certain age, having more than one child, and in other cases, one-time benefits can be applied to municipalities. Their size can reach more than 7 thousand. euros.
As informed Vilnius city municipality, residents can apply for one-time, targeted, conditional and periodic payments. The following residents can receive one-off payments:
- A resident who has reached the age of 100 is entitled to a payment of 1375 euros;
- A family with three or more children at the same time has 2,2 thousand. euros;
- For a person who has served a sentence of at least 6 months in a prison, 220 euros;
- For a family experiencing social risk, when a baby is born in it, to buy a baby carrier - 385 euros.
Residents experiencing financial difficulties can apply for a targeted allowance. It can be given to persons living together or to a single person. The amount of this support can range from 165 euros to 7260 euros.
This allowance is allocated to buy certain targeted services or goods, for example it can be allocated to buy glasses, furniture. It can be used to cover arrears for communal services or apply in case of a fire. It is the victims of the fire that are given the biggest allowance.
Residents can also apply for a conditional allowance. It can be awarded in order to help persons who have declared their place of residence in Vilnius or those who have not declared their place of residence, but actually live in Vilnius, in the following cases:
- regardless of income, to pay public transport tickets for residents participating in social integration programs and measures in the Vilnius City Hostel and the "Carito" temporary home of the Vilnius Archdiocese;
- up to 770 euros can be allocated to persons addicted to psychoactive substances participating in social integration programs, psychological social rehabilitation or psychological assistance.
The Vilnius City Municipality calculated that last year a total of 3102 applications were made for one-time, targeted, conditional and periodic allowances, and this year - 735 times in the first three months of the year.
"So the flow of applicants remains similar. The majority of requests consist of requests for one-off benefits. Comparing by months, it can be seen that the most requests are received in the first months of the year, January-March, and the least in the last months, especially in December," the municipality commented.
