After a little more than a year, the underground pedestrian crossing, located Constitution Avenue, - opened. Although we wrote earlier that neither the ceiling nor the tiles were changed in some of the passages, this news cannot help but please. After all, pedestrians will finally be able to walk comfortably again and will go all the way through this crossing White bridge, which was not the case before.
"The underpass will connect Europa Square with the Artery business center built on the other side of the street and will allow pedestrians and cyclists to comfortably reach Upės St., White Bridge", - in his social media. writes in networks Vilnius city municipality.
During the reconstruction, worn structures of the building were replaced, a public toilet, a new elevator and a new ventilation system were installed, the floor slabs were reinforced, and the ceiling and lighting were replaced in part of the passage. Another exit was installed at the pedestrian crossing, which will allow pedestrians to reach Upės st. or the White Bridge.
However, not all of the crossing was renovated. During the reconstruction, underground shops operated here and the entrance from Europa Square was opened. That is why the tiles in this part of the passage were not replaced.
As previously informed by the municipality, waterproofing repair works on the side of Europa Square are planned this year. During this work, the fate of the old floor tiles will be decided and possibly replaced with new ones.
This underpass is closed for reconstruction in 2022. December. Although it was promised that the renovated crossing would be open for walking as early as June, the work was delayed for more than half a year. The renovation and extension works of the underpass were completed together with the construction works of the Artery business center.
