The mayor of Vilnius invites residents to contribute to creating an even greener capital city. This Sunday, from 11 a.m. autumn planting cleanup will take place in Karoliniškės, Sietynos street. About 3000 bushes will be planted around the kindergarten and football arena.

"I invite you to spend this Sunday together with the citizens of Vilnius in creating an even greener capital city. Let's meet in Karoliniškės this time! It is extremely important to create more green spaces for communities to spend time together, communicate, and work in sleeping areas further from the city center," says the Mayor of Vilnius Valdas Benkunskas.

Volunteers are welcome at 11 a.m. In the children's playground on Sietynos street, near the nursery-kindergarten "Medynėlis" and the BFA football arena (Darius Gerbutavičiaus str. 9). Specialists of "Vilnius City Parks" and landscaping company "Stebulė" will show you how to plant shrubs and tell you more about them.

Nine types of bushes will be planted on Sietynos Street. Among them are extremely fragrant jasmines, even witch hazel that sometimes blooms in autumn, or forsythia bursting with dazzling yellow flowers in spring. Places have been prepared for trees next to the bushes, but they will be planted later by experienced Stebulė employees.

Those who do not have work gloves and a shovel will receive these tools on the spot. While the cleanup is taking place, there will be traffic restrictions on Sietynos Street until noon on Sunday: between Darius Gerbutavičiaus Street and Algimantas Petro Kavoliukas Street from 10 a.m. until 13 p.m. the roadway will be temporarily narrowed and speed will be restricted. Drivers are asked to plan their journeys with a margin of time, if it is possible to bypass the work zone on the surrounding streets. Public transport routes and traffic conditions will not change.
