Today evening begins the 701th Vilnius Light Festival, where Vilnius residents and guests of the city are invited to experience the works of light art masters and young talents and to meaningfully celebrate Vilnius' XNUMXst birthday. To ensure that the visit to the four-day event goes smoothly and that its visitors spend quality time, the festival organizers remind you of the most important information and share friendly advice.

Festival opening hours

There are 20 illuminated objects on the route

The program of the 2024 Vilnius Light Festival includes as many as 20 modern art exhibits - 15 new light installations and 5 additional objects. For the convenience of the event's visitors, a route covering all the exhibits and meandering through the spaces of the capital's old town has been prepared. In order not to miss anything and to enter the festival spaces through the designated entrances and exits, it is recommended to visit the installations in a sequential order, as indicated on the route. It is suggested to start your walk and search for new experiences from the Art Printing House (Šiltadaržio St. 6) located next to the Bernardinė Garden, where two installations no. 1 and no. 2 and additional object D. While traveling along the route, you will be able to view the showcases of the Tourism Information Center (additional object C), and after looking around the courtyard of the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania, you are invited to visit the courtyard of the Vilnius Picture Gallery, continue along Bokšto Street, stop by Bokšto Square and the Vilnius Jesuit Gymnasium and Educational courtyards of the media center "Lajoteka". Later, after admiring the impressive video installation on Vilnius St. Kazimierz churches, the route leads through the pedestrian alley of Vokiečių gatvė, stops at the courtyards of S. Neries gymnasium and the Lithuanian theater, music and cinema museum, invites you to enter St. St. Catherine's Church and finish the search in the courtyard of the Vilnius Teachers' House.

In addition to the ones already mentioned, the remaining two additional objects can be seen On the Cathedral Square. This is a tradition of the festival and has become a visiting card, installations: A. - The tower of Gediminas Castle will be decorated with a renewed crown of light - INVITATION and B. - NŪDIENOS GEDIMINAS - the sword of the monument to the founder of the city of Vilnius, Grand Duke Gediminas, will shine in the cathedral square. Object E is slightly off the beaten track and will await visitors in the bohemian In Užupi, on the Jonos Mekos Skervės path.

Installations in closed spaces

Three installations of the festival will be exhibited not in open, but in closed spaces - no. 14 St. Catherine's Church (Vilnius St. 30) and no. 1 and no. 2 in Menų paustuvė (Šiltadaržio str. 6), where the organizers hope for visitors' understanding and patience while waiting in line at the entrance. Here, the flow of visitors will be managed and festival volunteers will help in all matters.

The organizers of the festival expect visitors to understand and respect the artists' works and strongly request that you do not touch the installations with your hands.

Exceptions - interactive installations: no. 1 at the Art Printing House (Šiltadaržio St. 6), no. 13 in the courtyard of the LTMK museum (Vilnius St. 41) and no. 14 St. Catherine's Church (Vilniaus St. 30), which will be revealed in all its beauty only thanks to the visitors. The festival is animal friendly

We remind you that the Vilnius Festival of Lights is animal-friendly. The organizers hope that every responsible pet owner knows that this event is full of bright and dynamic lights that can disturb the animals. Therefore, before visiting the festival, the owner should assess the condition and behavior of his pet, and whether the four-legged friend will really feel safe in the festival spaces, especially closed ones.

In order to ensure that the festival experience is pleasant for both visitors and animals, it is recommended that pets that are easily excited and sensitive to noise and bright lights should be left at home. For those who come to the festival grounds with a pet, it is expected that the animal will be next to the owner at a distance of no more than half a meter, with a muzzle and attached leash. It is also requested that every responsible four-legged breeder takes care of compliance with hygiene and sanitation requirements.

For those who are not in a hurry, there are respite and gastro areas

Take a breather, enjoy hot drinks, quench your hunger and discuss new experiences on January 25-28. Vilnius residents and guests of the city will be able to visit the capital's K. During the Vilnius Festival of Lights, January 25-28. from 18 p.m. until 6 o'clock in the evening in the morning, the entry of vehicles (except for residents and service vehicles) into the old town will be prohibited.

To the festival by public transport

The organizers report that the most convenient way to visit the festival located in the old town is to go by public transport. Normal public transport traffic will not change.

For those arriving to Vilnius by car, it is recommended to think in advance about parking that does not violate traffic rules.
