After announcing in the public space about "Travel in Lithuania"plans to acquire the services of assessment and marketing tools for the Lithuanian gastronomy sector for almost 1,7 million. euros, it has been speculated that this could be the price for the Michelin rating, which no one in Lithuania has yet restaurant.

However, Dovilė Seliukė, head of the Tourism Marketing and Communication Department of "Keliauk Lithuania", claims that the information does not include the price of the visit of the "Michelin" representatives, but in this case the total amount of the public procurement contract, which is valid for 3 years, has been announced.

"The specified amount is estimated for 3 years, behind which both evaluation and publicity and other additional actions that may happen in the next 3 years are hidden. We want to emphasize that the amount of the public procurement is not equal to the amount or the price of the contract, these are different things", said D. Seliukė to Eltai.

"As we have already mentioned, all issues related to the arrival of Michelin for the next 3 years are hidden in this sum," she noted.

D. Seliukė assured that the specific agreements and contracts are still in the confidentiality stage, as well as the information regarding Michelin's arrival in Lithuania cannot be disclosed yet.

"Obviously, the processes are ongoing, but we cannot specify anything yet. Let's hope that this year we will be able to celebrate the results", said the representative of "Keliauk Lithuania".

"As for the procurement itself, the procurement documents are currently being prepared, the public procurement has not yet started, but it is included in the summary of planned procurements. We plan to start the purchase at the beginning of the second quarter, so as of today, nothing has been announced, just added to the list," she explained, noting that she cannot provide more information due to confidentiality.

ELTA reminds that the Minister of Economy and Innovation Dawn Armonaitė at the end of last year, he said that in Lithuania in 2024 the first restaurant with a Michelin rating should appear. According to her, it is restaurant occurrence would encourage tourist arrivals to return to pre-pandemic levels.

The Michelin guide, a prestigious publication evaluating the world's best restaurants, has been around since 1900. allowed in France.
