More than 200 young Lithuanians can win free travel tickets to Europe in the "DoscoverEU" initiative of the European Commission (EC).
As the EC representation in Lithuania informed on Monday, a total of 35,5 will be distributed. travel tickets, Lithuania had 223 of them.
Applications are accepted until April 30 at 13 p.m. Young people born between July 2005, 1 and June 2006, 30 can submit them on the European Youth Portal.
Registrants will have to answer five quiz questions about the European Union (EU) and one bonus question.
Selected applicants will be able to travel around Europe for up to 30 days from July this year to the end of September next year. Young people from the EU and associated countries of the Erasmus+ program - Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, North Macedonia and Turkey - can participate in the competition.
"Those who receive tickets will be able to create their own routes or take inspiration from existing routes. For example, they can discover the itinerary announced last year, which focuses on cities and places in the European Union that are famous for their beauty, sustainability and inclusiveness, in line with the principles of the new European Bauhaus," the report reads.
Participants will also receive a discount card with more than 40 thousand. discounts on public transport, culture, accommodation, food, sports and other services in the respective countries.
The DiscoverEU initiative promotes sustainable travel by train, but young people living in the outermost regions, overseas countries and territories, remote areas and islands may benefit from special arrangements.
The EC initiative "DiscoverEU" began to be implemented in 2018.
