Residents on social networks are once again surprised and do not understand Vilnius city municipalities decision. Ozo str., between Vilnius Acropolis and Oz shopping centers, there are steps on the sidewalk. It seems that there is nothing strange about it, yet they lead to... nowhere.
Some ask - others joke. You can neither go down nor go up the stairs. In social networks, residents have already managed to mock the decision to install stairs on the slope.
"You walk calmly, a thought suddenly came to your mind and you think how good it would be to go up or take the stairs, oh, and you can see the stairs," jokes one internet user.
"So that if the winter is slippery, you can get off on a smoother surface," answers another.
Although most internet users tried to guess and the most common guess is that the stairs are installed so that it is not so slippery to go down the mountain in winter, Vilnius city municipality prepared a completely different answer. The stairs were installed recently, during the capital renovation of Ozo st. repairs and are intended for people who find it difficult to climb a hill on a normal path.
"The major overhaul is special in that everything is reorganized, taking into account the currently valid requirements. According to the Construction Technical Regulation, the slope On Oz Street, considering its length, is too steep, so the project included stairs, which were installed. They are intended for people who find it difficult to overcome a longer hill on a normal path, so they can overcome a part of it by stairs, holding the handrail", comments the city municipality.
Such a decision did not appear only on Ozo Street. Similar stairs can be found in other parts of the city under renovation. They are installed taking into account the length and steepness of the street.
