It was filmed how a drunken Belarusian rammed a wall on Druja Street

According to the summary of Vilnius county VPK, "April 13 around 21 p.m. 14 minutes In Vilnius, Drujos St., a Citroen car driven by a drunken (1,86 percent) man (born in 1974) crashed into the wall of a house. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in accordance with Article 281¹ of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 1 d.".

"In this territory, the real estate development company "Unique Properties" in 2024 in February, the construction of the "Vilnius Jazz" complex, which consists of 62 new apartments and 9 commercial premises, began apartment building and managed 1200 sq. m. administrative purpose building of the interwar construction of the area.

The traffic accident happened when the driver crashed into the annex-warehouse of the administrative building well known to Vilnius residents. This object does not occupy a traffic lane, but is extremely close to the roadway, restricts pedestrian and cyclist traffic and poses a danger to all road users.

This warehouse was planned to be demolished a dozen years ago during the construction of the southern bypass of the Old Town, and this is still foreseen in the detailed plan of the territory, but at the time the municipality was unable to do so without an agreement with the previous owners of the buildings.

Plots and buildings in 2021. after acquiring it, Unique Properties had all the legal options to simply demolish the warehouse, and this scenario was supported by some interested parties. Another option was to rehabilitate the warehouse without changing its volume, but this would maintain its current position, which would hamper vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Therefore, in the end, after discussions with representatives of heritage conservationists, architects, city administration, drivers and resident communities, the project developer created a compromise solution for the warehouse, which "cuts off" the part of the building that obstructs traffic," writes Unique Properties, the company developing the real estate project in this area.
