The intense pace and rush of life seems to make some people dizzy. On Švitrigailos Street, on weekdays, left turns are prohibited at intersections, unless special left-turn zones are provided for this purpose.
Švitrigailos Street gets clogged as it should during peak hours, and re-adjusted traffic lights create traffic jams practically on the entire street. In addition, this street has one lane each for public transport and electric cars. Apparently, some drivers lose their nerve and decide that "to hell with the traffic rules, I'll create my own". Some decide to go A band, and others even drive into the opposite lane.
One resident of Vilnius, who did not want to be named, sent a video recording to the editors, which recorded a violation of traffic rules - crossing a double continuous lane, driving into the oncoming traffic lane.
"Well, I can't be angry with a polite driver because he showed a turn signal before entering the yard. Apparently, he was in a hurry to get to work and didn't want to make a huge detour, because he would have had to drive along J. Basanavičius Street. However, similar situations are repeated in Švitrigailos and, it seems, drivers feel unpunished. It is disappointing that traffic jams and waiting on this street are increasing due to similar tricks," the man from Vilnius who sent the video does not hide his disappointment.
According to him, he did not register the incident with the e-police, because the number plates of the Toyota Yaris are not clearly visible in the video.
What do they say about it? KET the rules?
The traffic rules state that this maneuver performed by the vehicle is a gross violation. The double solid line is intended for this purpose, to separate the traffic flows of opposite directions on the roads and prohibits driving in the oncoming traffic lanes on the marked road section. Crossing this line is prohibited.
Thus, crossing a continuous line and entering the oncoming traffic lane in violation of the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules entails a fine of 60-90 euros. The right to drive can also be revoked for one to three months. However, if such a maneuver would cause a dangerous situation, then the fine would be between 170 and 230 euros.
