Lithuanian airports this aviation summer season, which will start at the end of March, will offer passengers new destinations. From Vilnius airport regular flights will take place in 51 directions, from Kaunas - 28, and from Palanga - 6. Compared to the winter season, the number of destinations in the summer will increase by about a third. Two new airlines attracted to Lithuania also contribute to the development of routes.

"After the winter break, airlines are returning many routes and will offer new routes connecting Lithuania with the world. There will be more flights to European cities, and the map of holiday destinations will expand to Greece, Italy, Spain and other countries. Therefore, together with our partners, we are preparing for an active summer season and we are putting a lot of focus on providing high-quality service to the increasing passenger flows", says Tomas Zitikis, Head of Route Development at Lithuanian Airports.

Two new airlines are starting from Vilnius

Vilnius airport passengers will be offered a choice of 51 destinations this summer. Previously popular summer routes are returning, and new ones are appearing, for example to Krakow, Hamburg or Lisbon. Therefore, travelers will be able to choose flights when planning a beach holiday or actively exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites or the most impressive natural parks abroad.

Zitikis mentions flights to Heraklion, on the Greek island of Crete, resuming in April, as well as flights to Corfu starting in June. The Croatian city of Dubrovnik can be reached directly from Vilnius already in May, and in July you can plan a trip to Split.

In the coming months, flights to Tel Aviv (Israel), Nice (France), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Varna (Bulgaria) will start again. Routes will once again extend from the capital of Lithuania to such international hubs as Frankfurt (Germany), Lisbon (Portugal), Dublin (Ireland), as well as to Reykjavik (Iceland), which is convenient for transatlantic flights. Flights to the Icelandic capital will be operated by a new partner of Lithuanian airports - the Icelandic airline "PLAY airlines" from May. Another new carrier this season, the Greek company Aegean Airlines, will provide connections to Athens, and with a short layover, to many popular and unknown Greek islands.

Zitikis points out that those who dream of a longer summer will be able to take advantage of the offer of the new Lithuanian airline "flydubai" - to reach the Dubai airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a direct flight in autumn, and through it to almost the whole world.

In addition to the aforementioned innovations, Vilnius will maintain regular connections with London, Istanbul, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Copenhagen, Brussels and other important European centers.

It will be easy to fly to Southern Europe from Kaunas

Kaunas Airport, which served record passenger flows last year, does not intend to reduce its turnover in the coming months and will offer 28 destinations. From Kaunas, it will continue to be possible to quickly reach the cities of Scandinavia, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

T. Zitikis advises those planning a summer vacation to look into flight tickets to Spain: Madrid, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Alicante. At that time, as many as five routes will connect Kaunas with Italy - aircraft will transport to Bari, Rimini, Naples, Milan and Pisa. From May, flights to Burgas in Bulgaria and Rhodes Island in Greece, which are popular with vacationers, are being renewed, and flights to Cyprus, Paphos airport, are also maintaining their popularity.

People who like to take a weekend trip to a historic European city can fly to Cologne, Stockholm, London or Brussels from Kaunas during the summer season. It is expected that the new flights to Berlin (Germany) and Pisa (Italy), starting from Kaunas at the end of March, and to Zadar (Croatia) starting in June, will also gain popularity.

Palanga will be connected to Amsterdam

Not only Palanga city and beaches are preparing for the summer season, but also the airport. In addition to the four regularly operated flight destinations, two more will soon appear. From March 20 from Palanga you can fly to Dublin in Ireland, and from May 29 flights to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, will start. The latter new route will significantly contribute to the improvement of air connectivity in Western Lithuania, as Amsterdam Airport - one of the most important in Europe - offers convenient connecting flights to almost the whole world. In addition, regular direct flights to Copenhagen, London, Oslo and Riga will continue to operate from the seaside.

T. Zitikis, Head of Route Development of Lithuanian Airports, says that this year will be an important stage for the airport network before a period of particularly active growth, as the company will complete a significant infrastructure development breakthrough in 2025, when a new passenger terminal in Vilnius will start operating, and the terminal will be expanded Beautiful, and the overall network will be able to serve about 10 million passengers per year.

Regular flights in Lithuanian airports a total of 15 airlines will operate this year, of which 11 are traditional (legacy) and four more are low-cost airlines.
