The news portal tv3.lt received a letter from a concerned Vilnius woman and photos of her nearby Vilnius city municipalities growing mushrooms.
The woman asks why the representatives of the municipality are not able to take care of the city environment and do not remove the mushrooms growing in the middle of the city?
"Perhaps the municipality is once again advocating for naturalness?" And what will happen again with unmowed meadows? It's funny, maybe soon we will see Sosnovsky borsch in the middle of the city...
It is strange when such a team works in a municipality, there are many responsible people, but the result is unsupervised territories. What if some child grabs that mushroom? What if it is poisonous?
It is disappointing that there are such finds in the city center."
Will not delete
For his part, Gabrielius Grubinskas, media relations specialist of the Marketing and Communication Department of the Vilnius City Municipality, said that the saprotrophic fungi seen in the photo break down the decomposing dead organic matter and turn it into a form available for absorption by plants.
Thus, they do not harm the environment (humans, animals or plants), but on the contrary, they are beneficial for plant nutrition.
The appearance of these mushrooms is a natural natural process, which is absolutely nothing to worry about. Constitution Avenue there is no intention to remove the saprotrophs of fungi that have appeared in the dividing strip."
