The fifth day of the European Youth Swimming Championship in Belgrade (Serbia) brought a gold medal to the Lithuanian delegation. 100-year-old Lithuanian Smiltė Plytnykaitė triumphed in the girls' 16 m freestyle swimming final.

The representative of Lithuania covered the distance in 55,31 seconds. and 0,04 sec. overtook the Italian swimmer Sara Curtis. Hungarian Dora Molnar came third (55,56 seconds).

The student of coach Kęstutis Steponavičius entered the finals with a score of 4-5 (55,97 seconds).

The Lithuanian women's record in this event also belongs to S. Plytnykaita - 54,74 seconds.
