Lithuanian discus thrower Mykolas Alekna in the competition between California and Stanford universities held on Saturday, JAV, set a new personal record - his discus flew 71 meters. This is the best result of his career and also the 18th best result in the world.
He also broke the NCAA record.
Lietuvis flew the 71-meter tool on his third attempt. The first throw flew 63,29 m, the second - 67,25 m, the fifth - 66,21 m, the fourth was not counted. M. Alekna beat Iffy Joyner (60,14) and Chudis Ikpeazu (56,27) by a huge margin. After the record-breaking throw, the Lithuanian was congratulated by everyone: teammates, coach, and rivals.
Until now, M. Alekna's career record was 69 m 81 cm.
