Winter is a great time to visit Dieveniškii Historical Regional Park. The trees drowned in shining frost, the undulating hills covered with thick beds of snow, reinforce the feeling that time has stopped here as soon as you arrive in this land.

The Directorate of Dzūkija-Suvalkija protected areas invites you to start your trip with a visit to Stakai oak tree. Its grandeur and the breadth of its branches take your breath away every time. The strong branches decorated with snow only stand out even more, because their image is obscured by lush green leaves. The staki oak is close to 1000 years old.

Next, we turn to Poškonis - the visitor center of Dieveniškių historical regional park is located here. In it, you will find an excellent exposition, the pride of which is the colorful divon from Dzūki. Cultivating old traditions is one of the main activities of the park, which is why a wide variety of educations is offered.

Not far from Poškonii, another mighty tree is hibernating - the Grybiškių oak. Traveling through the light pine forest, you will soon reach an old six-trunked pine, and behind it you will see a path leading to the Grybiškii oak. It must be admitted that this place has a special aura - the snow-covered fir trees standing in a circle seem to be talking to an old sage or listening to his rich stories.

After viewing the exposition of the visitor center and the Grybiškių oak tree, let's travel to visit the famous street villages of the park. The choice is really big - Šiudainys, Žižmai, Rimašai - let's stop at the latter. Rimašai is distinguished by its old street, cobbled with cobblestones. The street runs along the Gauja river and seems to echo its curves. Neatly lined up with their ends facing the street, the homesteads calmly wait for spring, everywhere drips from the melting icicles, and sparrows chirp cheerfully in the courtyards.

After a walk in Rimašiai, let's travel towards the Bēčionii mound. It is a trace of an ancient settlement that dates back to the times of the Balts - I-II centuries BC. After going up to the site of the mound, a wide winter landscape opens up panorama. In the distance, you can already hear the sounds of the wedding of the cranes, and next to the gazebo inviting for rest, a blue-winged screech - the kestrel is angry with the visitors.

This is a half-day route in Dieveniškių Historical Regional Park. This region is worth visiting at any time of the year, we look forward to your arrival!
