Every year, at least a few new educational trails are established in Lithuania. Undiscovered corners of nature are opened for visitors, new infrastructure is installed, information is presented in a modern, interesting and interactive way, so the general level of educational trails rises. However, not all trails keep up with the times, and there are some whose signs are removed forever. Such trails disappear from the educational trail map, but they remain in the memories. From now on, the educational trails that have been canceled, abandoned or for other reasons no longer visited will find a place in this section. They will no longer be on the map of the educational trails, so that there are no unpleasant surprises when you go to the place.

Educational trail "Prie Kumpono"

In 2007, the Kupiškis forest administration set up an educational trail "Near Kumpono" in the Subačias forest. It was 1,2 kilometers along the Kumpon stream and then through the forest, and it was a linear route, so you had to go back and forth on the same path. In 2018, the educational trail introducing wildlife was abolished.

Dumsiai forest educational trail "Kopa"

In the shelter of the Dumsiai forest, this is the only educational trail in the Jonava district that leads to the continental dune. That is why it is also called "Kopa". Unfortunately, this 2-kilometer-long educational trail can only be talked about in the past tense. After serving for recreation purposes for some time, this area was handed over to the Lithuanian army and a military training ground was established here. The nature trail was a lot of fun, so it's a bit of a shame to remove this attraction from the nature trail map.

Zingiai forest educational trail

A 1,5 kilometer long educational trail was installed in the rustling Žingiai Forest on the shore of Lake Asveja. In the private territory, the trail was installed in 2007, and there are stands about nature. After more than a decade, the educational trail was canceled by the decision of the owner.

Educational trail of Škėvonii

A kilometer forward and a kilometer back - that's about the length of the Škėvonii educational trail, which is now no longer on the educational trail map. From restaurant The "Seklytėlė" trail led past the Škėvonii outcrop in the western direction, and it was possible to travel back along the Nemunas coast. In some places it was more difficult to pass, but the path known by fishermen and travelers existed. The ring-shaped route no longer exists, and after arriving at "Seklytėlė" it is suggested to visit the Birštonas observation tower and the Škėvonii exposure.

Girele educational trail

From Paukšininkai street in Kaišiadorys to the Girele ponds, the Girele educational trail led. In the beginning, there is a Nest Alley, where various nests are hung, further on you can see an oak tree and a monument to the fallen unknown Soviet soldiers. All this can be seen even now, only there is no trail diagram at the beginning or end of the path, no arrow pointing towards the oak tree. There is also no marking of the educational trail, only two educational stands in the forest remain. It is not clear whether the Girele educational trail has been canceled or will be renewed.

Ilgabale educational trail

In the territory of the Dzūkija National Park, right next to Merkina, there was an educational trail for getting to know amphibians. Ilgabale educational trail is a circular route with a length of 1,7 kilometers. The path led in a circle around a long and narrow turf, where various species of amphibians find shelter. The information stands briefly introduce the protected species and describe the conditions necessary for them to live and reproduce.

In the spring of 2023 Ilgabale educational trail it looked deserted, although the information boards and signage were still there. A year later, there are no stands or markings left, and the trail is not on the list of attractions.
