The Directorate of Dzūkija-Suvalkija Protected Areas suggests discovering a great place in the Nemunas Loops Regional Park, where you can feel spring with all 5 senses. We invite you to hike along the new educational trail of the Punia shil landscape reserve. Don't be afraid that you will have to walk more than 8 kilometers. The time spent in Punia's heat will not last long, and the impressions will remain for a long time.

At this time of the year, you will be greeted by a real festival of colors and a symphonic orchestra of birds in Punia's heat. Among the hundred-year-old Punias silo oaks, white-flowered plumes, violets and rhubarbs raise the blossoms. Please do not pick flowers on the Nemunas coast, they are an extremely important source of food for the first insects of spring. More than one Lithuanian Red Book plant grows here.

It is interesting that one of the objects of the track was discovered only in 2015. Such a cookie is the Panemuninkai mound. You will also see the famous Punia hill on the other side of the Nemunas. The top of the Panemuninkai cliff is connected to the oak alley on the Nemunas coast by a newly installed staircase, and the impressive hornbeam will be made easier to overcome by built lime trees. The last 4 kilometers of the track wind along the border between the Punia Reserve and the Punia Landscape Reserve. The reserve is marked by warning signs, April is a particularly sensitive breeding season for birds and animals, so they need peace.

The course is marked by red arrows on tree trunks and green arrows on posts, but for your convenience we also provide a map available at https://bit.ly/Puniostrasa. After scanning the QR code, the map becomes interactive and you can track your position on the course. We suggest leaving the car at the Punia Forestry Museum, and starting the hike from the stand about the old forest at the end of Nemunas street.
