April 12-13 all vocational training institutions in the country hold open days at the same time. Everyone is invited to visit and learn about vocational training - students and their parents, teachers, career specialists and anyone interested in vocational training opportunities. You can visit the desired schools on any of the two days from 9 am to 16 pm.

"Vocational school visitors will be introduced to modern practical training bases and school spaces, they will present how the most needed specialists in the labor market are prepared. This is an opportunity to see with your own eyes how renewed vocational schools are, and to change preconceived notions about vocational training," says Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports Agnė Kudarauskienė.

"We are glad that people's attitude towards vocational training has changed and is still changing, that more and more young people choose vocational school first, and only then, if necessary for a further career, pursue higher education. And stereotypes are destroyed the most by our graduates who have successfully established themselves in the labor market. We have beautiful examples of our graduates creating their own businesses and returning to work as teachers," says Violeta Petrušienė, director of the Klaipėda Technology Training Center.

It will be possible to listen to the success stories of vocational school graduates and the advice of vocational teachers during the open days.

Vocational schools will also offer interactive classes. Visitors will be invited to "try on" the professions of programmer, designer, mechatronics and other professions, learn to fly drones or use a 3D printer, and try various simulators.

Vocational training is an opportunity to acquire the most in-demand skills

Vocational training is flexible - it responds quickly to the needs of the labor market, and both students and adults can take advantage of its opportunities and acquire new practical skills. In a vocational training institution, practical training makes up more than two-thirds of the curriculum.

Vocational schools offer not only traditional programs, but also apprenticeship training in a real workplace or modules of various professions for high school students in general education schools. Vocational schools also organize clubs.

According to Jurgita Ogorodnikienė, whose son is studying at the Kaunas School of Information Technology, the vocational school provides excellent conditions: it has a high school department that allows you to "try out" the profession, modern equipment, modern computer classes, lessons are adapted to specialties, and their schedule is rationally drawn up, so practically here homework can also be done, there is no shortage of extracurricular activities.

"Since my son's grade point average is 9,2, he receives a monthly scholarship of 82,5 euros. When he realized that he could get money just for good studies, he became even more motivated and wanted to pursue the biggest scholarship, which requires a 9,75 grade point average," says his mother.

Students of vocational schools, in addition to a scholarship, receive a dormitory and other privileges that students have, can participate in international exchange programs, and do internships abroad.

in 2024 the summer phase of the main admission to vocational training institutions will begin on June 3. Applicants will be able to submit applications until August 5.
