On November 30, a mineral water kiosk with a chapel of Our Lady of Trakai was opened in the village of Varniki, near the educational trail. Its construction project was approved during the meeting of the Trakai district municipal council held on August 23.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Trakai district municipality Andrius Šatevičius, vice-mayor Jonas Kietavičius, members of the municipal council, administration director Dovilė Daudaitė. The bivouette and the chapel were consecrated by Saint Trakai. Dean Jonas Varaneckas, pastor of the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. Representatives of Trakų vandenys UAB, which performed the works, also participated. The author of this project financed by the Municipality is architect Marija Vasiulytė.
After the establishment of the bivouette, visitors can enjoy the mineral water of a unique chemical composition with low mineralization gushing directly from a 200-meter deep well, recover their strength, spend time in solitude and find inner peace near the chapel of the Mother of God of Trakai - the Patroness of Lithuania.
This gift of nature was found in 2017, when geologists conducted water tests during the installation of three additional wells in Varniki. Then it was found that the water from the well, which is 205 meters deep, is of very good quality, with low mineralization and can be considered as mineral water, suitable even for babies.
Mayor A. Šatevičius has no doubts that the exclusive bivouette will become another attraction in the Trakai district and is happy with the infrastructure created for visitors. Paved paths, benches and a trash can have been built next to the bivouette. The tracks are comfortably illuminated by elegant lamps. There is a parking lot and an information stand next to it.
