The announcement of the Ministry of Transport states that after the reconstruction, traffic conditions will improve in the city of Lentvaris, which is divided into two parts by the railway line and due to the intense train traffic at the crossing, traffic jams are constantly created.
According to Remigius Lipkevičius, the temporary head of the Roads Directorate, due to the intense train traffic, the crossing is closed for a large part of the day, which caused inconvenience to the residents.
"After the implementation of the project, communication will improve, safety will increase and the problem will be solved, when a queue of cars was formed at the crossing, sometimes after half an hour or even longer," R. Lipkevičius said in the report.
The value of the contract with Tilsta is 20,7 million. EUR including VAT, the works must be completed within nine months from the entry into force of the contract. This term does not include the annual three-month technological break.
