Residents of Lentvaris and Trakai are angry that they still cannot use the recently installed multi-purpose sports fields. The municipality demands through the court to renovate the surface of Lentvaris multi-purpose courts.

In Lentvary, after using the support of the structural funds of the European Union, the former stadiums at two gymnasiums - Motiejas Šimelionis and "Versmė" - were reconstructed. So, almost two years ago, after the reconstruction, the residents of the entire city acquired two multifunctional sports fields with football fields, running tracks, and other sports equipment. Apparently, the old dream of the townspeople to play sports on modern courts has come true.

Unfortunately, as it turned out after some time, Lentvar players cannot use these courts, because the foundations of the surface are not properly equipped. During the winter, part of the field settled, the surface became potholed, due to poorly installed drainage, puddles formed, the surface does not meet the requirements and is not suitable for sports. The help of experts was also used, and the conclusions presented by them only confirmed the notion that the coatings need to be redone and specified specific ways and means to do it.

Therefore, the Municipality filed claims against the closed joint-stock company Altitudė, the contractor of both reconstructed pitches. However, the contractor did not agree to repair the defects in the works found in the fields. Disputes are currently being resolved by the court.

Claims have also been submitted for a defect in the Trakai sports field, which was installed by the same company.

"We regret that public interests are harmed due to poor quality work. We always encourage local companies to work in their region and we hope that they will feel responsible not only towards the customer, but also towards the residents of the area. Unfortunately, as the current situation shows, goodwill from the other side is lacking. The shortcomings will be rectified, but we will waste more time than we could", Darius Kvedaravičius, director of the district municipality administration, described the situation.
