The semi-railway crossing that divides the city of Lentvaris is the only place through which cars, pedestrians or cyclists can get from the northern part of the city to the southern part and vice versa. Funding has been allocated to the reconstruction of the crossing, which has become an old pain point, by order of Minister Jaroslav Narkevič.

"The reconstruction of the Lentvaris crossing, which has already begun, is vital for the residents of this city, because both doctors and firefighters are wasted in this place when passing trains one after the other. Local residents also suffer by losing time in unnecessary traffic jams. For a long time, nothing was done to reconstruct this dangerous crossing. I am glad that it was possible to start the works and allocate funding for them. The crossing reconstruction project will be implemented regardless of political change", says Minister J. Narkevič.

In the project, a new intersection of different levels is installed - a car tunnel under the railway with a common pedestrian and bicycle path, pedestrian-cyclist overpasses (2 units), one-level intersections - a small roundabout (Geležinkelio and Fabriko st.) and a small roundabout (Klevų al. and Vilniaus g.). Existing and newly installed sections of streets (Vokės, Kęstučios, Sodų, Stadionos and Dzūkų g) are being reconstructed, as well as pedestrian and bicycle paths, sidewalks, retaining walls, and noise-reducing barriers are being newly installed. Newly installed and reconstructed existing engineering networks.

The project is implemented as a single project, the initiator and organization of which is the Directorate of Roads of Lithuanian Automobile Roads, which meets the needs of road users and the public, and implements the state policy of road development, maintenance and safe traffic of national importance. Project partners: Trakai District Municipality Administration and AB "LTG Infra".

The total value of the project is EUR 21.049.329,51. EUR 10.585.612,00 funds from the European Regional Development Fund.
