2022 has been declared the Lithuanian and European Year of Youth, creating a unique opportunity to draw attention to youth policy at the national and international levels. The Year of Youth provides an opportunity to draw our society's attention to the situation of youth in self-government.

On the initiative of the National Association of Coordinators of Youth Affairs and the Association of Lithuanian Municipalities, the idea of a Youth Park has been implemented, the result of which is the greening of one of the Stelmužės oak trees in each Lithuanian municipality, i.e. an approximately 1500-year-old oak tree growing in the Zarasai district, the oldest and thickest in Lithuania and one of the oldest in Europe, a Lithuanian natural monument , acorn-grown oak tree. The oak trees intended for the youth park were grown and donated by Aldona Miškinienė, museum curator of the Stelmužė church art museum.

This initiative did not bypass the Trakai district either. On Thursday, October 20, the youth of our district, together with the government representatives, planted a small tree in Lentvary. An information board was placed next to the oak tree, and it contains QR codes, which young people can open to learn more about their opportunities in the Trakai district and throughout Lithuania. The youth park was created together with the Lentvaris youth center, implementing the youth initiative "Green oasis" financed by the municipality of Trakai district, which will allow the growth of not only the Stelmuža oak tree, but also lilacs, black pines, lindens, magnolias and other plants that will enliven the space intended for young people. .

Not only young people from Lentvaris Motiejaus Šimelionis "Versmės", gymnasiums, Lentvaris Parish "Caritas" Children's and Adolescent Day Center "Akimirka" participated in the creation of the park, but also the member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Kęstutis Vilkauskas, the mayor of Trakai district municipality Andrius Šatevičius, deputy mayor Jonas Kietavičius, Members of the Youth Affairs Council, Lentvaris elder Vytas Rukšėnas and other guests.

We thank everyone who contributed to the implementation of this initiative. We believe that the little stalk will be a symbol of the Youth Park, uniting the youth of all Lithuania.
