Incidents of the collapse of the Europa Square stairs can now be recorded in the diary. We have already written about the crumbling surface of the square several times, and here it is again - the stairs have started to crumble. The municipality assures that it will be fixed this month.
"Comprehensive maintenance work on the European Square will begin in a couple of weeks. These will be implemented in stages to allow pedestrians to continue to use the square. This should ensure greater durability of the stairs and square surfaces", says Gabrielius Grubinskas, Vilnius city municipalities Media relations specialist.
The municipality knows that the square is problematic and needs to be constantly maintained. The municipality has already mentioned that these are not defects caused by heavy equipment or weather conditions. It's just that the surface of the field is not very high quality.
"In order to completely prevent the stair tiles from crumbling, reconstruction should be carried out, existing solutions and materials should be changed", comments the representative of the municipality.
However, such a complex reconstruction is not planned yet, and the municipality promises to fix the stairs in April.
