Vilnius is a multicultural city, where interesting finds can often be found during various reconstructions. One of these was uncovered during the reconstruction of the Lithuanian theater, music and cinema theater. An interwar inscription in Polish can be read on the wall of the building.
"Towarzystwo Zakłady Mechanicznych FENIX" - says the inscription on the wall of the museum. This is a car sales and repair workshop - says the "Treasures of the capital" page.
As the previously mentioned page managed to find out, the workshop was founded in 1922, and the company specialized in the repair work of cars, trucks and motorcycles. Trade was also carried out here and various metalworking and technical repair services were provided.
"The company was founded by Jewish businessmen: Juzef (Josel) Chlavnovičius, Julian Kietz and Efim Šlosberg. The "Fenix" technical office and workshop were located in the courtyard of Mažyų Radvilų Palace, at Vilniaus st. 8 (now Vilniaus st. 41-41a). Building materials such as stove logs were also sold there. In 1924, Bronislavas Mołodeckis became a shareholder of J. Kietz, and a year later he was replaced by Nesza Libo. Around 1927, the "Fenix" company disbanded", - reads the entry of "Sostinės lobių".
Later, Juzefs (Josel) Chlavnovičius completely took over the activities of the workshop, and since 1931, the shop belonged to his wife.
