Vilnius At the station a new location is opening: Bēgiai parkas. Vilnius residents and guests of the city will be invited to get acquainted with the stories of the trains.
On the last day of September, a unique space was opened for city residents in the rapidly renovating Vilnius train station. On the occasion of the opening, visitors will be offered free tours throughout the week. Vilnius residents of their year will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the stories and facts of trains.
The track park format has proven itself in various other cities around the world. Tracks not actually used in the park are not demolished. They are opened to the public, and unused infrastructure is supplemented with benches, lights, plants, and leisure infrastructure.
In an authentic space, guests will be able to view historical rolling stock: steam locomotives, railcars, a tank tractor, a steam locomotive, a restaurant-wagon, and various devices used for rail maintenance. Visitors will also find a magical historical bell that fulfills travel wishes, and a train and a swing made from train wheels for the little guests.
The track park is a change of the station "Lithuanian Railways" project "Vilnius Connect” part. It is expected that the exclusive space open to the public will contribute to the more active cultural life of the station area - in the future, fairs, exhibitions, and other cultural activities could take place here.
The track park will be open to visitors every day from 8:22 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. Access to the park is via stairs from the pedestrian overpass Vilnius railway station or come or ride a bike through the gate on the Pelesa street side.
