French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out the deployment of French ground forces in Ukraine.
After the end of the conference on aid to Ukraine in Paris late on Monday, E. Macron stated that there are no issues that cannot be discussed in order to guarantee that Russia does not win the war against Ukraine.
At a meeting of more than 20 heads of state and prime ministers, there was no consensus on the use of ground forces, but nothing can be ruled out in terms of future dynamics, Macron said. Each country could independently and sovereignly decide on the deployment of ground forces.
Before leaving for a meeting in Paris, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico warned of a "dangerous escalation of tensions" with Russia. Individual countries, which he did not want to name, are probably ready to send their troops directly to Ukraine, he said, but warned that this would not convince Russia to surrender and would actually increase the risk of an escalation of the conflict.
At the meeting, it was decided to form a coalition to supply Ukraine with missiles for attacks far in the rear of Russia and to mobilize additional ammunition from its reserves in a short time, the French president said.
The delivery of French Mirage fighter jets has not yet been decided, but French military equipment that could help Ukraine is still being discussed, Macron said.
