Vilnius district officers of the Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board of the Chief Police Commissariat are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the illegal possession of a very large amount of narcotics (Article 260 d. 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania).

April 22 of this year. late in the evening in the parking lot, on Upės St. in the capital, police officers noticed a suspicious car and young people hanging around it. When the officers approached the car, there were two 23-24-year-old young men sitting in it, who looked confused when they saw the police officers and could not explain what they were doing here at such a time. Although the youths denied having any prohibited items with them, a cursory examination showed that the youths had something to hide - polyethylene bags containing a light-colored crystalline substance were discovered. On suspicion of illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances, the young people were arrested, and a pre-trial investigation was started for illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without the purpose of distributing them (Article 259 d. 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania).

During the initial steps of the process, during the search of one of the apartments in the residence of the aforementioned detained persons in Vilnius, about 300 g of a light crystalline substance, suspected of being a psychotropic substance, the so-called "crystal", were also found and seized, as well as screw-top bottles with liquids inside. suspected of having synthetic cannabinol called "smile", psychotropic drugs "Concerta", "Bromazepam", "Xanax", "Clonezepam" and other objects relevant to the pre-trial investigation.

After the search, after it was established that the mentioned persons are possibly in possession of a very large amount of narcotic or psychotropic substances and are possibly engaged in their distribution, the latter were charged in accordance with Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. on the 3rd (Illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute them or illegal possession of a very large quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances).   

The strictest pre-trial detention measure - detention for 2 months - is given to persons after the allegations have been made. For the commission of an incriminated criminal act, persons face imprisonment from 10 to 15 years.

The pre-trial investigation is organized and led by the prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Vilnius District Prosecutor's Office.
