With drizzle and snow prevailing in Lithuania on Monday, road workers say that they have been carrying out preventive work on the roads since early morning, but it may be slippery in places.
"Dozens of machines were working until noon and are still working in some sections, which perform cleaning, application of anti-slip materials, or cleaning and application not only on the most intensive, but also on district and country roads," reads the "Road maintenance" comment sent to BNS.
According to road workers, on Monday, about 26 tons of salt and 11 tons of solution were used to reduce slippage, but the work continues.
"Despite the great efforts of road workers, 100% is impossible. to ensure that some road sections do not become slippery. Drivers are asked to assess dynamic weather conditions: first of all, to allow more time for travel, to choose a safe speed, to assess the stopping distance, to observe road signs and other road users", say road users.
According to the data of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, precipitation is falling in Lithuania on Monday, sleet and snow prevail, mainly in the northern and eastern regions of the country.
Due to the sticky snow, a wet snow coating is formed in some places - a layer of wet snow that sticks to various surfaces.
