100 Single people in 2024 will receive 3,4 euros more in monthly benefits, so the total annual amount is already approaching half a thousand euros.

Sodra has explained who can receive the single person's benefit, when it can be stopped or when it can be chosen instead of the widow's pension.

Who can receive this benefit?

Malgožata Kozič, adviser of the Communication Department of "Sodra", indicated that all people with disabilities who:

  • live in Lithuania;
  • are single, ie never married or divorced;
  • have reached retirement age. 

M. Kozič pointed out that people receiving widow's pensions are not given a single person's allowance - they continue to receive widow's pensions.

"The single person's allowance can be received by those people who do not receive a widow's pension or whose widow's pension is lower than the single person's allowance.

In such a case, a person must apply to "Sodra" with a request to stop the payment of a smaller widow's pension," explained the adviser.

Amounts of benefits

The representative of "Sodra" mentioned that the amount of the benefit for a single person is indexed every year.

And he stated that in 2022, the amount of the payment was 32 euros per month, that is, 384 euros per year.

In 2023, this amount reached 34,89 euros per month, ie 418,68 euros per year.

And this year, the amount of the single person's benefit will reach 38,23 euros - as much as the amount of the social insurance widow's pension. 

This means that in 2024 single people will receive 3,34 euros more than last year, which will amount to an additional 40 euros per year. And in total, it is 458,76 euros per year.

When is the payment terminated?

M. Kozič indicated that the benefits of a single person are granted without an application, based on the data of the Population Register on the marital status of the person and the data of the "Sodra" register on the benefits received by the person.

According to the adviser, this benefit is paid every month.

And the payment of the benefit is terminated if a person:

  • declares departure from Lithuania;
  • enters into a marriage;
  • the payment of the assigned old-age pension, disability pension, benefit compensation, social pension or pension premium is terminated.

M. Kozič revealed that almost 230 people currently receive the single person's allowance.

In 2024, it is planned to allocate 110,1 million for the benefits of a single person. euros.
