Vadimas Naumov, the chief architect of Bucha, Kyiv region, Ukraine, visited Vilnius this week. Representatives of the Construction Sector Development Agency (SSVA) introduced the guest to the urban development of the capital, showed one of the largest conversion projects in Lithuania - the Paupios district.

Lithuania, Borodyanka and Buča have signed a memorandum on the implementation of a 3D city planning tool in Ukrainian cities. During the planning of the capital Paupis, this tool was used to analyze the impact of the neighborhood under development on the environment, landscape and residents.

"Paupys is a good example of sustainable development, how, with smart city planning, it is possible to qualitatively renew districts and transform former industrial areas. We also talked with the chief architect of Buča about mistakes that Ukrainians should not make when rebuilding cities," says Mindaugas Pakalnis, head of the SSVA Urbanistics department.

During the project, which will be implemented by SSVA, a platform will be created where it will be possible to display in three-dimensional space not only ongoing but also planned construction projects in Borodyanka and Bucha, to see what impact they will have on the environment and residents.

This tool will come in handy for anyone involved in rebuilding destroyed cities, both through design and construction.

The first stage of the project will include the preparation of a digital platform and the collection of 3D images of the city and their uploading to the platform. Based on them, a 3D planning tool adapted to Ukrainian cities would be created.

"The project created by SSVA with its partners is a smart digital solution for Ukrainian cities that will help to rebuild them better than they were before the war. This is an internationally agreed goal. 3D urban planning will enable the quality and more efficient planning of all reconstruction projects," says Tomas Gulbinas, head of the SSVA special project for Ukraine.

Lithuania would also conduct training for employees of Borodyanka and Buča municipalities, not only on how to use the tool, but to further expand and improve it.

The 3D planning tool is expected to be ready by 2024. II quarter.
