The choice of restaurants in Lithuania is increasing every day. So how do you choose what to eat for dinner tonight? To make this puzzle easier, “Volt" presents in 2021 best restaurant awards. Voting for the contest, which everyone can not only contribute to, but also benefit from, has already started on Wednesday, December 1.

Restaurant selection is like watching Netflix

Wolt representatives agree that choosing a restaurant for dinner from the app's extremely extensive list often becomes akin to the dilemma of deciding which Netflix movie or series to watch. After all, sometimes it happens that even late at night a concrete decision is not made.

With that in mind, the initiators of the Wolt Best Restaurant Awards promise that all that will soon change. From now on, when trying to decide what kind of food to order at home, with the help of the tips provided in the Wolt app and the compiled lists of the best restaurants, it will be possible to do it even easier and simpler.

"Constantly received feedback from users of the app has refined one idea - the choice of restaurants is so wide that you need advice on how to choose. That is why the company is initiating the awards. We want to make it possible for everyone to support their favorite places", says Liis Ristal, manager of Wolt for the Baltic countries.

Will help restaurants improve

A total of 180 food delivery restaurants and cafes with the highest ratings on the Wolt app were nominated for the awards. A panel of opinion makers and food enthusiasts then selected 90 finalists - 10 restaurants and cafes each - in 9 separate categories. Now Lithuanian residents are invited to participate in the voting, which will determine the final ranking of the best.

The commission consists of such members as, for example, Instagram opinion maker, model and author of the book and blog "Kitchen Julie" Julija Steponavičiūtė, celebrity fitness trainer and European champion Paulius Ratkevičius, professional chef Ignas Višinskas, opinion maker Agnė Kulitaitė and others.

"In the last decade, the culture of cafes, restaurants and bars has been actively developing in Lithuania - people liked to go out and eat, socialize, spend time, and gain experiences outside of the home. The pandemic that started a couple of years ago significantly disrupted this tradition, but most of the townspeople kept in touch with their favorite places - they simply started using courier services and eating their favorite dishes at home. In addition, home delivery has expanded the variety of cuisines and dishes available at the click of a few buttons. At the moment, we see a rapidly spreading transformation of the eating culture in Lithuania, and we want to explore it even more. I hope that everyone will actively participate in the elections, and food producers will strive to improve even more and offer customers more and more quality and attractive dishes", says chef Ignas Višinskas, a member of the election commission.

A continuing tradition

Wolt hopes that the restaurant awards will bring together the best knowledge of food places. That's exactly why restaurants are chosen by combining the positions of food experts and opinion makers, and the final vote will be given to the entire population of the country.

Company representatives also hope that these awards will become a beautiful tradition. "Our idea is to create a campaign concept that will continue every year and become a quality tool to help discover the best food in the country," says Liis Ristal, Wolt's manager for the Baltic countries.

The final round of the election of the best food delivery restaurants and cafes began on December 1. Restaurants from the Wolt platform already selected by the committee are competing for the best title in each of the categories. You can vote for them on the dedicated Wolt Awards website until December 31. The TOP3 of the best in all 9 categories will be announced on January 5 next year.

You can vote once every 24 hours, with a maximum of 31 votes in each of the nine categories. During voting, the number of votes received for each restaurant is displayed as a percentage of the total votes.
