After partial reconstruction, the renewed Great Hall of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater (LNDT) will open its doors to the audience already this Friday.
As the theater announced on Monday, the hall will be opened by Kamilė Gudmonaitė and Dominykas Digimas' payphone opera "Things I didn't dare to say, and now it's too late".
This performance was created by LNDT, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and production company "Operomanija".
This opera is based on the thoughts expressed over the payphone to his loved ones. A payphone from last March, a week after Russia started the war in Ukraine, was built at LNDT.
According to the theater, people were invited to stop by and "call" those to whom they could not or did not dare to express their feelings or thoughts. In more than six months, about 4 thousand people picked up the phone. together. Audio recordings of all the authentic stories became the basis of the opera's libretto.
The premiere of the opera will take place on December 1-3.
LNDT started the reconstruction in 2018, currently three theater halls are operating here: the reconstructed Big one and the newly equipped Mažoji and Naujoji halls.
LNDT General Director Martynas Budraitis said at the end of August that the Great Hall will be open until mid-February, after which it will be closed again for further reconstruction until August next year.
