For the first time in its history, the Vilnius Tango Theater is touring Lithuania with special guests from Argentina. It is hoped to inspire people with confidence and hope.

"We want to ignite the passion for tango music and rhythm and show at least a part of this intoxicating show performed by professional artists from Argentina, not only to the people of Vilnius, but also to the residents of other Lithuanian cities," says the head of the Vilnius Tango Theater, choreographer Sigitas Repšys, who runs the only tango theater not only in Lithuania, but also in Europe.

S. Repšys, inspired by a recent television dance project in which he participated as a choreographer, continues the journey of tango dance and culture into the hearts of Lithuanian people - he wants to introduce the residents of Lithuania to this passionate and extremely complex dance directly.

"Since already this weekend, a couple from Argentina is coming to Lithuania, the strongest and most popular artists in the "Tangomani" project, the couple of famous dancers Juan Pablo Bulichir rocio garcia, we decided to organize performances not only in Vilnius, but also throughout Lithuania. In the near future, concerts await us in Varėna, Alytus, Ukmerge, Panevėžys, Pasvaly, Šilute, Telšiai and other Lithuanian cities and towns.

"The main goal of our tour of Lithuania is to inspire people with confidence and, no matter how strange it may sound, hope, because tango is a very positive dance, even though it originates from sadness and longing. This dance, which has a lot of passion and expression, encodes a huge charge of positivity and hope in every movement. It is an extremely theatrical dance, so any emotion can be expressed through it. And the most important thing is that it can be anything. On the other hand, tango is a dream of happiness and eternal love. About the basic things a person needs, because everyone wants to be understood and loved. Tango is the real fuel to dream and live more passionately", choreographer S. Repšys revealed the purpose of his tour of Lithuania.

A well-known choreographer says that tango is a niche culture that is discovered by those who need it, so this dance does not need to be artificially popularized somehow. "People discover this dance and our theater by themselves. Its visitors are not only Vilnius residents, we are visited by an infinite number of foreigners who come from various European countries specifically to see a real tango dance pulsating with Argentinian passion. Therefore, I am driven forward by the idea that Vilnius can indeed become the base of Argentine tango dance for dancers and artists from all over the world. Because the Vilnius tango theater is unique in that there is no other such tango theater anywhere else, only in Argentina and here in Vilnius. Only when you realize this, you understand that you need to expand. It is necessary to become the place where the world's most famous tango artists could come. That's why we want to present the tango theater to the whole of Lithuania," the well-known choreographer justified the uniqueness of the theater.

The professional tango choreographer also emphasized that no dance school in Lithuania or the world prepares professional tango dancers, so most of his theater artists have come from Argentina. Just so that while working here in Vilnius, they would not stray from the true roots of Argentine tango, and would constantly feel and support the pulse of real tango. The Tango Theater team currently consists of dancers: Veronica Gabriela Luna, Emmanuel Riquelme, Rūta Keller, Alexis Gonzalez, Ieva Konopliovaitė-Eisimantė, vocalists Egidija Mačiulytė and Agnė Sabulytė. Actors are inspired and performances are inspired by director, choreographer Sigitas Repšys and choreographer Alexis Gonzalez.

The next performances of the Vilnius Tango Theater will take place on September 26. in Varėna, September 27. Alytus, September 29. Ukmerge, October 5. Panevėžys musical theater.
