August-September of this year. The Museum of Wooden City Architecture organized the competition "Vilniaus medinukų TOP 2022. Wooden doors". During it, the public had the opportunity to vote in the online gallery for the wooden doors of the capital that they liked the most. In the competition, more than 470 voters expressed their opinion, choosing the 10 most beautiful wooden doors in Vilnius.
2022 wooden doors proposed by visitors and selected by the museum took part in the competition "Vilnius medinukų TOP 50. Wooden doors", short descriptions were prepared for them, emphasizing authentic construction and decoration details, and the expression of architectural styles. The results of the competition are published in the gallery on the website of the Museum of Wooden City Architecture - www.mmam.lt. The 10 winning doors will be decorated with symbolic signs - crowns, and artistic photographs of the doors and the facades surrounding them, specially created for the competition, will be presented in an exhibition traveling around various public spaces of the city. The presentation of the mobile photo exhibition will take place at the Museum of Wooden City Architecture on November 2022, 26, at 15 p.m. Polotsk st. 52, Vilnius.
The results of the competition are commented by the project coordinator, the head of the museum. fund custodian Indrė Užuotaitė: "Although we tried to include wooden doors from the entire historical center of Vilnius and its suburbs in the competition, the results of the voting show that the majority of citizens rated the doors located in the territory of Naujamiestis and Stations in the area. It is not surprising - the brickwork of the XNUMXth century dominates here. second half - XNUMXth century early historicist style architecture with facades richly decorated with moldings, the ornamentation and motifs of which are echoed by the wooden doors. The museum is extremely pleased that almost a third of the winners are doors from Žvėrynas and Užupis wooden houses. It is clear that wooden architecture is noticed and appreciated by the townspeople."
