The traveling international exhibition "Leonardo da Vinci's Machines" has opened in the Museum of Energy and Technology, where you can see several dozen inventions reconstructed according to L. da Vinci's sketches, and the most famous reproductions of L. da Vinci's works, including the "Mona Lisa", for a record price of 450 "The Savior of the World" and the famous mural "The Last Supper" were sold for the price of millions of dollars.

L. da Vinci, born in 1452, was a Renaissance genius known for his multifaceted contributions to art, engineering, and science. A scientist, an architect, a painter, a sculptor, a musician, a philosopher, a mathematician, an anatomist, a physicist and an inventor, he is also a pacifist and an animal protector. In the newly opened exhibition, you can get acquainted with a unique historical figure.

The exhibition organized by the Museum of Energy and Technology and Polish-German exhibition organizers "Organization of Exhibitions" opened in the museum's Turbine Hall.

Da Vinci and Vilnius

L. da Vinci's full name - Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci - means: Leonardo, son of Sir Piero from the city of Vinci.

Among his many projects are: a submarine, flying machines, a parachute, a diving suit, a tank powered by human muscles, various excavators, cranes and many other devices and structures.

L. da Vinci's notes, sketches and technical drawings are collected in the so-called codices. It is believed that the artist's notes were numbered more than 13 thousand. pages, about 7 thousand have survived to this day.

"It is a great honor for us to present the inventions and works of a genius who was centuries ahead of his time," said Kamila Gierko, one of the organizers of the exhibition, representative of the "Organization of Exhibitions". - The purpose of the exhibition is to perpetuate and promote research, innovation and endless human curiosity. Its arrival in Vilnius testifies to the city's rich cultural heritage, dedication to art and science. We believe that the harmony of the eternal genius L. da Vinci and the spirit of Vilnius will inspire us to appreciate the essence of Renaissance thinking and encourage us to create a future based on innovation and knowledge."

One of the pioneers of engineering

200 years before Isaac Newton, L. da Vinci wrote: "Weight tends to fall toward the center by the shortest possible path." 400 years before Charles Darwin, he placed man in the same category as apes.

Da Vinci is also a pioneer in the study of complex aviation problems. 1478-1480 he invented a light glider with wings spread on a mesh skeleton. in 2003 flying champion Judy Leden successfully tested this piece in the air.

An extraordinary exhibition about one of the greatest inventors in world history will open this month at the Museum of Energy and Technology. "Da Vinci is widely regarded not only as a unique artist, but also as an engineering genius," said museum director Mykolas Bistrickas. - His inventions have had a lasting impact in a variety of fields, including aeronautical, civil and mechanical engineering. His notes are filled with sketches and concepts that demonstrate great engineering intelligence, and many modern technological solutions and innovations are inspired by the works of L. da Vinci. Together with the sponsors and partners of the exhibition, we present a relevant and creative exhibition in terms of engineering, which will contribute to the promotion of creativity and technical awareness of visitors."

The exhibition will be open until April 7 of the next year.
